The Russian who released videos of his encounters with Kenyan women, sparking a media outburst, used the Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses. Meta Platforms and EssilorLuxottica collaborated to build the Ray-Ban Meta line of smartglasses. They have a touchpad integrated into the frame, two cameras, open-ear speakers, and a microphone. They are the second iteration of a range of smartglasses that Google and Snap Inc. have released.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses don’t have an AR or HUD, in contrast to other smart glasses. They were revealed by Meta on September 27, 2023. They make use of Meta AI, livestreaming to Facebook and Instagram, upgraded cameras to 12 MP, enhanced audio, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor. On April 23, 2024, Meta said that the smart glasses’ Meta AI would be updated to allow multimodal input through computer vision.
